New York-based, cruelty-free cosmetics brand Tarte Cosmetics has promoted Samantha Kitain to the role of chief marketing officer.

Tarte Cosmetics appoints Samantha Kitain, Tarte chief marketing officer - Tarte Cosmetics

Kitain, who was formerly senior vice president of sales and marketing, will join the executive team of Kim Tran, chief operating officer and Heather Hemsley, chief accounting officer, under the leadership of CEO and founder Maureen Kelly, and president Candace Craig Bulishak.

"I'm so proud of this Tarte team and all that they've accomplished together with me over the years – these amazing, smart women have been critical in contributing to Tarte's success," said Kelly. "It's been so inspiring watching Sam come into this role and I'm confident that she'll help us take the brand to the next level."

Bulishak as president and Tran as chief operating officer, assumed their current positions in February 2020 and in September 2020 the brand celebrated 20 years of cruelty-free beauty.

"After 9 years at Tarte, I'm still so impressed by our ability to grow worldwide while staying true to our values of being cruelty free, using naturally-derived ingredients and giving back," added Kitain. "I'm grateful for the opportunity to play a key role in Tarte's future.”

Tarte was founded in 1999 and acquired by Japanese company Kosé in 2014. It is described as a “cruelty-free line of easy-to-use, life-proof products packed with good-for-you ingredients that deliver real results without compromise.” The brand is 85 percent vegan and features 100 percent vegan skincare.

It has an in-store presence in over 20 countries, as well as online at tarte.com, which ships to over 70 countries worldwide.
