Clothing brand Springfield is joining the eco-friendly movement with the launch of its first sustainable collection. Called R[eco]nsider, the line features organic fibres that are respectful to the planet.

The brand’s new sustainable collection is based on two goals. First, to use of 100% organic cotton in garments such as shirts, trousers, jumpers and sweatshirts. And second, to use laser technologies and ozone fading treatments for denim finishing, two techniques that can save water and energy during the production process and reduce the release of toxic chemicals into the environment, the brand said in a press release.

As part of the second goal, Springfield will offer sustainable denim garments which reinforce their commitment to the environment, it said.

Springfield is joining an increasingly important movement within the fashion industry, with retailers such as H&M and Inditex leading the way in terms of sustainability.

Springfield is a Spanish fashion brand owned by Tendam group, whose portfolio also includes Cortefiel, Pedro del Hierro, Women’Secret and Fifty. The brand has 850 stores and a presence in 70 countries worldwide.
