Safilo: Vladimiro Baldin, ex-Diesel, to oversee innovation

Vladimiro Baldin will work for a new company as of October 1st and will more or less also change his product focus, going from denim to eyewear. 

Having joined Diesel in 1998, where he has served as head of product development and style coordinator since 2010, he will soon join Safilo, which held Diesel’s eyewear license since 1994-2010. 

The change may also be linked to the hiring in April 2013 of Nicola Fromichetti as Diesel’s creative director. Fromichetti has been given a great degree of autonomy and control.

At the eyewear manufacturer, Vladimiro Baldin will take up the newly created position of product creation director and will report directly to CEO Luisa Delgado. “He will oversee product development, innovation and creative operations," confirms Safilo’s HQ. 

Baldin originally gained experience at Marilena confezioni Spa before joining Diesel in 1998 as product manager. He was subsequently promoted to head of research and development and finally style coordination director.
