Monse taps French footwear label Both for punk boot collaboration

New York ready-to-wear brand Monse has teamed up with Both, the Paris-based cult footwear label, for a special collection of boots.

Debuted at Monse's Fall/Winter 2020 show during New York Fashion Week, the collection includes five versions of Both's signature boot models--including two versions of the GAO Thigh High Buckle Boot and three versions of the GAO High Boots--re-imagined by Monse's founders and creative heads, Fernando Gracia and Laura Kim

Like the New York brand's Fall/Winter collection, dubbed "Happy Punk," the shoes are inspired by the punk aesthetic as well as the Wes Anderson film Fantastic Mr. Fox, a quirky source that nonetheless speaks to Monse's penchant for deconstructed, menswear-inspired tailoring.

Designed to complement the fall collection's flurry of tartan, velvet, and deconstructed wool, the chunky, rubber-soled boots come in a palette of red, olive green, white and black, with a Monse logo featured on the heel.

The Monse x Both footwear retails from $790 to $1200, and will be available this August via select retailers globally, the partners said.

Previously, Both, which offers a range of men's and women's footwear, has collaborated with Los Angeles-based menswear brand Second/Layer Inc., French footwear brand Clergerie, Berlin-based brand Souvenir and Korean online fashion retailer, Han Style, among others.
