“Spitalfields is an area full of creative talent as well as cultural and brand history and we are returning to the roots of the house with the opening of this McQ store," said Sarah Burton, Creative Director, in a statement. “The gallery space within the store will provide a platform for emerging artists which is something that has always been close to the heart of the house.”

International artists will be invited to present their creations in the art space “McQ Hosts”. The gallery will be debuted by Belgian artist Ermias Kifleyesus, who collaborated with McQ on the AW15 campaign. To celebrate the opening of the store, Kifleyesus will show a collection of collage artworks.

McQ’s new retail concept, featuring black, white, grey and red notes, reflects the juxtapositions at the heart of the brand’s values: raw and polished, hard and soft, monochrome and colour. According to the label, the concept is planned to be rolled out globally.
