L.A.'s Thomas Fire, which has expanded to an area larger than the size of New York City and continues to burn, has temporarily shut down Kylie Cosmetics' Oxnard, CA factory while state evacuations are carried out.

The brand's announcement comes the day before its much anticipated Silver Series drop - Facebook: Kylie Cosmetics

"We have been significantly impacted by the wild fires in Southern California, and had to temporarily shut down our facility to ensure the safety of our staff," the brand said on Twitter. "The impact of the fires has meant that many of our staff members have been evacuated from their homes and have to relocate their families."

The brand said staff who were not evacuated came into work to ship orders. The announcement was made the day before Kylie Cosmetics' new Silver Series drop, which takes place tomorrow, December 13. The Silver Series includes the brand's first lipstick, 30 different shades of concealer for diverse skin tones, and a brush set.

The facility, called Spatz Laboratories, employs an internal team of engineers and color specialists to manufacture completely in house in Oxnard. The company also manufactures products for KKW Beauty and Colourpop.

Ventura-based Patagonia has also had to close in the wake of the fire and evacuations.

The Thomas Fire has become the fifth largest wild fire in California's state history, and has burned an area of over 230,000 acres from Oxnard and Ventura to Santa Barbara County.
