The lifestyle brand opened its 4,000 sq ft store in Sheffield’s Meadowhall Shopping Centre last November as part of the centre’s £60 million regeneration project.

This week, Joe Browns founder and MD Simon Brown said: “Our first store very quickly passed the £1.25m sales mark and over 25,000 customers have now made a purchase. Sales have far exceeded our expectations.”

Ad importantly too, he said that the store “is significantly driving more regional traffic to our website.”

He also said that the company has been “flooded with demand from customers” for more stores and is looking at plans to roll out more locations "in the near future.”

The retailer has been expanding fast in recent years and in the last two, gross profit has grown over 30%, with the company predicting further growth this year.

As well as new stores, it also plans to “further bolster sales with extended ranges and new product categories.”

In particular, Brown said that he’s pleased that the menswear range has “outperformed” in the new store, “justifying us putting it in a prominent area,” and he added that shoppers have been responding positively to the company’s window displays.

“When we opened our first store, we believed we could deliver a real point of difference in the UK High Street,” he said. “This was a bold move in a challenging retail environment but we knew that if we could capture the essence of our fun and liberating brand and bring it to life in-store, it could be a hugely successful move.”
