MILAN, Sept 12 (Reuters) - The majority shareholder of IT Holding is in talks with China's Hembly International Holdings about it buying a stake in the parent of the Italian fashion holding company, two sources said on Friday.

The two sides are looking at the possibility of Hembly, a niche apparel supplier and retailer, taking up to 40 percent in PA Investments, controlled by IT Holding Chairman Tonino Perna, one of the sources said.

"For a week now there have been meetings in Milan with Hembly," a source close to the matter said.

"Perna likes the Hembly solution because it would allow for the development of the Italian group's activities, especially of the Gianfranco Ferre brand in Asia, maybe also through the creation of an ad hoc company."

A Hembly spokeswoman on Thursday denied a newspaper report that it was in talks to buy a stake in IT Holding.

Trading in IT Holding shares was suspended on the Milan bourse for excessive gains, with the stock up almost 10 percent. (Reporting by Cristina Carlevaro)
