Danish menswear and womenswear brand Han Kjøbenhavn has opened a London flagship on Beak Street (not far from Regent Street) that marks its first move outside of its domestic market.

It’s just a few weeks since it opened a flagship in its home country with a debut in Copenhagen and comes at a good time as London Fashion Week takes place.

The 1,177 sq ft flagship store is part of the estate run by landlord Shaftesbury at 61-63 Beak Street in London’s Soho/Carnaby area and underlies the label’s international outlook now that the pandemic is easing.

The 14-year-old label was founded as an eyewear brand by Jannik Wikkelsø Davidsenand, later moving into the clothing for which it’s known today.

It sells online but sees physical stores as a key focus that can help create a more experiential connection to consumers.

CEO Daniel Søndergaard Hummel said the company wanted to create a space that can evolve and “provide different feelings and experiences on a continuous basis”.

With that in mid, the company is said to be as focused on the customer experience as on sales per square foot.

Part of that sees it incorporating technology into the space, as well as art.

That repeats the approach taken for the Copenhagen flagship that’s at Pilestræde 30 in Denmark’s capital.
