Fashion Awards red carpet drove search spike for floral print dresses

Red carpet events may have been thin on the ground in the past 18 months, but when they do happen, they still have the power to influence consumer fashion choices. And two high-profile red carpets have shown that in just the past few few days.

Fashion Awards

Sales aggregator site Lovethesales.com said that Monday’s Fashion Awards in London sent searches for floral print dresses soaring week-on-week as Priyanka Chopra won plaudits (and some criticism) for her floral fashion choice.

She wore a bodysuit and matching cape by floral print lover Richard Quinn with floral print demand up as much as 280% compared to the previous week.

Meanwhile, there was also a 79% increase in fashion searches for yellow dresses, driven by Alexa Chung wearing a Caroline Hu dress.

And searches for red pleated dresses rose 44% on the back of Maya Jama in Alexander McQueen, while belted dresses were up 36% as Kehlani wore an H&M belted dress.

Meanwhile, after a very different red carpet ceremony (to celebrate Barbados becoming a republic) at which Rihanna appeared, Lovethesales also tracked a 143% rise in searches for backless dresses in just 24 hours.

Dressed in Bottega Veneta, she also drove a 26% spike in searches for orange dresses and a 24% rise in interest for the label itself.
