On December 3, Dior Men will visit Miami to present its pre-fall 2020 collection. The luxury label hasn’t disclosed the show’s exact venue, indicating only that it will be held two days ahead of the inauguration of the international contemporary art fair Art Basel Miami Beach, scheduled from December 5 to 8 2019.

A close connection with art is at the core of the work of Kim Jones, the creative director of Dior Men, who tapped US sculptor Daniel Arsham for the label’s latest show, for the summer 2020, and his compatriot and plastic artist Raymond Pettibon for the Fall/Winter 2019-20 collection’s show.

Jones collaborated with Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama for his first pre-fall show for Dior Men, held in Tokyo last year. Staging the next show on the eve of the renowned Art Basel Miami Beach event is rather apposite.

“The USA were the first country outside France where Christian Dior was successful. And a project he created in the 1950s in the USA gave me the inspiration for this pre-collection,” said Jones in a press release.

The US market is extremely important for Dior, and the label is also keen to pay a special tribute to Christian Dior on this particular occasion. As Dior Men indicated, the eponymous couturier “did a major tour of the USA in 1947, only a few months after his first fashion show, and this event will celebrate and strengthen the long-standing connections between the label and the American continent.”
