Splash About, a UK swimwear brand for children, is preparing for a big year ahead after acquiring a distressed complementary business and bringing logistics in-house.

The Grimsby-based business is moving into larger premises in Stallingborough, and will double staff numbers.

It comes after it bought out Birmingham’s Swimrite Supplies Ltd (SRS), which operates in the junior and adult swimwear market, reported Business Live.

Splash About has made a name for itself by innovating in the infant swimming market, with many of its products now used every day in swimming pools all over the world. Its biggest achievement is the multi award- winning Happy Nappy, a reusable swim nappy that provides protection against nappy leaks.

Whilst Splash About is well known in its niche market, the SRS acquisition will give it better access to the leisure industry, as SRS has thousands of outlets at holiday parks and leisure centres.

SRS, founded in 1992, has been rebranded as Get Soaked and will share some stores with Slash About.

“Splash About is a very profitable business, and this is a sustainable investment within the area, and we are investing in staff to ensure we promote from within wherever possible. It will be a year of consolidation with the new business coming in and the redesign and redevelopment of all the products. We have bespoke developed from scratch 200 new product lines for the 2020 season,” Bernadette Spofforth, managing director, told Business Live.

Currently, Splash About products are available online and in stockists including Amazon, Boots, JoJo Maman Bebe, Sainsbury’s and Macy’s.
