Early April Fool’s Day prank story? It appears not. Property giant Hammerson is endorsing homemade fried chicken brand The Bok Shop to join forces with London sneaker boutique OffGrid to create a “completely new retail experience”.

Claiming to be the first of its kind nationally (and we believe them) the new 3,700 sq ft restaurant in Westquay, near Southampton, will host a bespoke limited edition sneaker display, allowing customers to dine while purchasing the latest Yeezys and coveted Air Jordan Diors from trainer experts.

The sneaker order comes with a side of either free-range chicken burgers, tenders and wings, with vegan options available.

Evenings and weekends will also "come alive" with regular music-led events "celebrating this unique cultural collision", they noted.

Jamie O'Mara, co-founder of The Bok Shop, said: “We’re bringing our love of fried chicken together with ultra-rare sneakers in a way that hasn’t been done before, and we can’t wait to bring this exciting concept to the people of Southampton. It’s been an exciting journey watching our business grow from a single shop in Brighton to multiple sites across the South Coast, with Southampton representing the natural next step in our expansion.”

Harry Badham, Chief Development and Asset Repositioning Officer, Hammerson, added: “This collaboration and partnership is a sign of how retail and dining are changing and coming together in new ways to create special places for our customers. The Bok Shop’s innovation and ethical credentials are aligned with our own ambitions.”
