Despite the declining market, the group’s core brands Baldessarini, Pierre Cardin and Pioneer Authentic Jeans showed a strong 2.6% growth in the first half of the year.

Sales revenue of the Premium segment rose by 2.2% to 1.7 million euros, boosted fashion house Pierre Cardin. Balderssarini grew revenue by 6%, while the Jeans, Casual & Workwear segment recorded a 3.4% increase in the period.

Ahlers said cost-saving measures led the company achieve EBIT growth of 214%, reporting 2.2 million euros in the first half versus 0.7 million in the prior year’s period.

The group discontinued the distribution activity of its Gin Tonic label at the end of 2015, laying off a significant number of employees of the chain, as well as staff from the group’s central divisions. The company lost over 80 employees between H1 2016 and H1 2015.

The management board said it expects the revenue trend to continue in the second half of the year. Revenues from core activities are projected to grow by 3%, while total revenues are expected to remain stable.
