To support the growth of its fashion sales, the US e-commerce giant plans to launch a 45,000 ft2 photo studio next year in east London.

The project should see the light of day during the summer of 2015, with 35 employees and fifty freelancers. It will be housed in an eyeglass factory in Hoxton on Geffrye Street, and will be larger than the company’s 40,000 ft² Brooklyn image studio, which was opened in 2013 and which provides images for Amazon’s American fashion business.

"Fashion is one of the fastest growing businesses for Amazon across Europe and the creation of this new studio illustrates both our ambitions in this area and our dedication to providing a first-class customer experience," says Sergio Bucher, vice president of Amazon Fashion EU. "Our new studio will enable us to produce high volumes of top-class photography by employing great talent in one of the leading fashion capitals of the world."

Last September, Amazon announced a partnership with the British Fashion Council, and took part in an editorial campaign for men’s fall-winter 2014/15 collections in the UK. The sit has also previously offered exclusive collections by two British designers: Osman and Solange Azagury-Partridge.

With 200 million customers, Amazon generated a turnover of 55.3 billion euros (£43.6 bln/$68.7 bln)) in 2013, up 22 % compared to 2012.
