Adidas unveils latest Craig Green collab

Adidas has announced its second collaborative collection with Craig Green that launches globally on Saturday. But the shoes have already been seen, having debuted at Green’s AW20 show back in January, which was the first time the British designer had shown in Paris.

“We started by finding the place between both brands where our ideas meet and then explored how these concepts could then be pushed even further,” he said.

The new collab sees Green reworking the Adidas Superstar. The CG Superstar sees the shoe “reimagined through one of his archetypal techniques, using quilting to define the classic Superstar design”.

Line stitching marks out the toe, with these lines extending up the tongue. The 3-Stripes trademark “is represented by an intensity of contrasted stitching. The result is a new take on the Superstar silhouette, with craftsmanship and a lightweight functionality heightening the aesthetics of this adidas legend”.

The shoe comes in off-white and red, or utility black with green.

Also news is the CG Kontuur III sneaker that sees the designer “introducing shimmering new versions to update the adidas Mundial football boot”.

Again, Green has used line stitch quilting for the padded leather upper. The shoe “reflects Green’s design interest in anatomy, with the overall effect like the muscle formation of a human foot”. This shoe will come in black and legend earth.

The final shoe is the CG Polta Akh III, a fresh take on the style that was launched earlier this year. The transparent layer and printed lining are monochromatic and come with the brand’s Rivalry sole in grey and white.

The collection has also been photographed by Green’s long-term collaborator, Dan Tobin Smith with “the collection being deconstructed, then turned into anatomical sculptures as if small animals, adding to the family of images created for the first season of the collaboration”.
